In Boston, I was surrounded by roommates who ran half marathons, a fellow intern who did aerial silks, and bikers everywhere. Prior to moving to Boston, I rode on the bike and ran on the treadmill at the gym, but that was kind of it..no intense marathon training for me (city girl here). However, during my time there I set myself a running schedule and sometimes trained with my roommates (only in the beginning though..) and soon I became more and more hooked on exercising, especially since it’s so stress relieving (oh yes internship was stressful). After moving back to NYC, I was no longer surrounded by joggers and bikers but instead with busy bees rushing to work. I was getting antsy for I didn’t have an outlet to release my stress (my neighborhood is not quite the area you want to be going on a run in). I then came across the Classtivity Passport—
How it works:
It is basically a “discovery pass” which gives you access to fitness classes around NYC. For $49, you can take 10 fitness classes in 10 different studios (less than $5 a class)! You can choose fitness classes such as yoga (I am a yogi now!), pilates, spin, bootcamps, and many more.
For my yoga fans, or who want to be yogis, I visited the following yoga studios:
Sacred Sounds Yoga
Yoga Vida (favorite)
ISHTA Yoga in the UES
Dance New Amsterdam (so good but dance studio, just one yoga class called Mind Body Dancer)
SYNCSTUDIO in Brooklyn (They have Broga here for men)
Y7 Studio (semi-hot yoga, so good)
Be aware that you need to use your passport within 30 days of your purchase..you can see that I only fit in 7 classes so be sure to pay attention to the expiration date when you do buy this (oops).
I am now a regular at Yoga Vida at University Place near Union Square so this really helped me figure out which studio worked for me. Love Y7 Studio too for those who like hot yoga but feel like you’re going to pass out, this place practices yoga in a cooler temperature but hot enough for you to feel relaxed. For those who are trying to find a good place for any kind of fitness, especially when starting to get into something, I really think this is a good deal for you. The holidays are coming up, great gift idea– the gift of fitness 🙂
Have you tried the Classtivity passport? Which studios are your favorite?
